So, I think you need to adjust your expectations. if our modern CPUs were fully utilized by our system drivers, we'd be completely fine with virtually any task. Yes I know our sample libraries are way larger, but still. the old Atari computer systems and old DAWs on PCI interface SMOKED with latency. The power is there, but the efficiency is not. If they were, we really wouldn't need to ever upgrade our CPUs again. These CPUs are overpowered but, you need to remember that the DAW and the interface driver are not performing optimally at all. Do you seriously feel the difference between 64 and 32? I really think you may be going overboard. sometimes code needs to be written elegantly to maximize performance and that was never their forte.īTW, that's a really really low buffer size man. You can't always just overpower everything. I wouldn't be super confident, regardless of thunderbolt speed. Apparently this one is supposed to be different and rewritten instead of the cookie cutter DICE language most people use, but still. but I know Presonus isn't historically good with drivers. With those specs, I would bet that the bottleneck is Quantum interface at 32 samples. The best I can do without click and pops is buffer size 128 with 5,83ms overall latency I think it's unacceptable that for it to function without clicks and pops you have to tolerate high latency when recording real time with a keyboard. I usually use buffer size 64 but on Omnisphere I usually have to go higher especially on those duo Keyscape things. I stand by my statement that this is a Omnisphere problem and not a system problem.since I don't have this problem on other vst's or libraries. PreSonus Quantum Ableton Live 10 Windows 10, overall latency: PreSonus Quantum driver: PreSonus_Universal_Control_v48221 StarTech THUNDERBOLT 3 TO THUNDERBOLT 2 adapter (TBT3TBTADAP)Īsus motherboard bios: Z170-PREMIUM-ASUS-3801Īsus motherboard firmware update: FW_update_tool_of_Z170-PREMIUM Important!!!!!!!! StarTech THUNDERBOLT CABEL 2M (TBOLTMM2MW) On omnisphere 128 buffer size is needed and that is "unacceptable" due to latency.Īsus Z170-PREMIUM motherboard (native Thunderbolt port) I've used Keyscape pianos in several projects and never had a problem with clicks and pops.on what sample rate and buffer size settings? And do you have Keyscape so you can test that duo thing? I of course know I can just turn up the buffer size and the clicks and pops goes away.
